Arguing against the constructivist metaphor of bodily inscription dominant since Foucault, Noland maintains th at kinesthetic experience, produced by acts of embodied gesturing, places pressure on the conditioning a body receives, encouraging variations in cultural practice that cannot otherwise be explained.
