Matisse Picasso and Gertrude Stein is also known as G. M. P.. Gertrude Stein (1874 - 1946) was an American writer who spent most of her life living in France. She was an influential figure in modern art and literature. Stein became friends with some of the most fa mous artists of her time and had her portrait painted by Picasso.
