THE GENERALIFE GARDEN OF PARADISE

The Generalife reflects the Muslim concept of a garden, which is essentially an illusion outside of the world, nature in a dream-lik e state, and above all, the desire to reproduce Paradise on Earth.This concept of the garden, reflected in the Koran, is also expres sed in one of the verses carved into the frieze around the archway that leads into the north pavilion of the Water Channel Courtyard in the Generalife.
