The Teatre Apolo of Barcelona opened its doors in 1904 in the heart and effervescence of the Barcelona Parallel, the European reference for the show. This places this theater among the oldest in the city of Barcelona still active.
In the 50s, it was acquired by the historical businessman Matías Colsada, who joined the trend of the time, making Teatre Apolo a reference for the Revista and the Zarzuela in Barcelona. In 1991 he underwent the integral reform that gave him his current appearance. This reform was carried out to update its facilities and ensure the maximum comfort of artists and public... reopening its doors in 1993. This allowed it to expand its capacity to 1000 people, positioning itself as one of the largest theaters in Barcelona. Thus the Teatre Apolo has oscillated, throughout its 110 years of life, between the artists and historical genres and the most spectacular artistic events.
In the historical area, the Teatre Apolo has seen the birth of artists of the stature of Lina Morgan, Concha Velasco, Manolo Escobar, Lola Flores, Isabel Pantoja, Rocio Jurado or Liza Minelli.
In the field of large format has seen zarzuelas, operas or musicals like Sweeney Todd by Mario Gas, Jesus Christ Superstar, We will Rock You, Cabaret, FAMA The Musical, HAIR, Mickael Jackson King of Pop etc. Currently the Apolo Theater continues with his passion for the show being among the reference halls of Barcelona. A theater of always... renewing itself every day!
