A time for daydreaming. Andalusia in Fortuny's imagery
CaixaForum Zaragoza. April 27th through August 27th
Marià Fortuny (1838-1874) is one of the main exponents of nineteenth-century Spanish painting. At the height of his international recognition, he decided to make a parenthesis and settle with his family in Granada, city of which he was enthralled and inspiration of some of his best works. This exhibition reviews the Granadine stage of the painter from Reus through important canvases and drawings, showing his fascination (like many other painters of that time) for the exoticism and richness of the eastern world, so far and so present at the same time in places like The Alhambra.
