From September 19, 2019 to January 12, 2020 in the Fundación MAPFRE Recoletos Exhibition Hall (Madrid)
Giovanni Boldini (Ferrara, 1842 - Paris, 1931) was one of the most important portrait painters in the period of the turn of the century. This exhibition presented to us by the MAPFRE Foundation in Madrid constitutes the first major retrospective dedicated to this artist in Spain.
The Italian artist lived in Paris since 1871, becoming one of the main painters of Montmartre. In the French capital, he coincided with numerous Spanish painters and the exhibition reflects the reciprocal influence between Boldini and Mariano Fortuny, Raimundo de Madrazo, Joaquín Sorolla or Ignacio Zuloaga.
Below you will find the selected bibliography of the exhibition and the exclusive objects of the exhibition.
