From November 12, 2020 to March 21, 2021 in CaixaForum Madrid
In 1924 André Breton published the Surrealist Manifesto, thus kicking off one of the most prominent and influential avant-garde movements. Surrealism manifested itself in different disciplines such as literature, cinema and the fine arts.
This exhibition presented by CaixaForum Madrid, produced and organized with the Vitra Design Museum, highlights the great influence of surrealism in design.
The exhibition includes pieces of different formats: paintings, sculptures, posters, magazines, books, photographs and historical films. They are presented from Duchamp's ready-mades to Dalí's sculpture objects, including works by Giorgio de Chirico, Le Corbusier, Meret Oppenheim, Gae Aulenti and Achille Castiglioni among many others.
Below you can consult the bibliography of the exhibition, including the catalog prepared by the Vitra Design Museum, in a beautiful edition. We also present a selection of exclusive objects related to the exhibition.
