At first sight, Pendletons series seems to strongly emulate LeWitts in its reliance on synecdoche: each Black Dada painting contai ns a cropped, hence incomplete, Incomplete Open Cube, as well as an incomplete version of the phrase 'BLACK DADA,' represented by on ly a few of its letters, as if gaps had opened up between them.
