GEORG KOLBE DER BRUNNEN - THE FOUNTAIN

Georg Kolbe (18771947) ranks among the most important sculptors of the first half of the 20th century. His idealised nude sculptures are an expression of his intense preoccupation with the representation of modern man. Many of his sculptures are inspired by the movement of expressive dance. Kolbe was involved in the Secession associations and was in close contact with artists such as Max Beckmann, Renée Sintenis, Ernst Barlach and Karl Schmidt-Rottluff.
