JOAN MIRÓ. THE LADDER OF ESCAPE

This exhibition is organised by the TateModern, London, and the Fundació Joan Miró,Barcelona, and brings together over 150 worksby t he artist showing that his tendency towardscontemplative isolation was accompaniedby a coherent response to events. Miró livedthroug h turbulent times and was not immune totheir effects. Despite his instinct to go far away,he admitted there is no ivory tower and thatthe ladder of escape has to be firmly rootedin reality if it is to lead to creativity.
