KANDINSKY, MONDRIAN, LISSITZKY AND THE ABSTRACT

Dresden was in the 1920s a hotspot for the artisticAvant-garde of Europe. In the middle of the decade were of the utmost importance the Soviet Russian Constructivism, the Dutch De Stijl movement and the Bauhaus in the traditional Elbflorenz for Excitement. Works b y El Lissitzky, Piet Mondrian, Lyonel Feininger,Wassily Kandinsky, Paul Klee, László Moholy-Nagy, Oskar Schlemmer and others were ex hibited in the galleries of the city and in the Press discussed controversially.
