Scott Lash argues that the ubiquity of global communication flows has collapsed the separate space needed for sustained reflection, for crit ique. The information society is not in essence irrational, the author argues that its operative unit is the idea. Even dis information is comprised of ideas. With the demise of reflection, reflexivity through the idea operates external to the subject. The se ideas external to the subject makes the critique of information possible.
