sinopsis

Lee Mingwei (b. 1964), a Taiwan-born artist currently living in New York, began attracting attention internationally in the late 1990s, by creating both participatory installations, where strangers can explore issues of trust, intimacy, and self-awareness on their own, and one-on-one events, where visitors explore these issues with the artist himself through everyday interaction. "Lee Mingwei and His Relations", held at Mori Art Museum in Tokyo in 2014, was the first major exhibition enabling visitors to experience comprehensively the most important works of his to date. Although this was a solo exhibition by Mingwei,
at the same time it also aimed at rethinking two of the keywords that are extremely important to his art practice: relations and connections.
The presentation of works by various other artists including Hakuin, D.T. Suzuki, John Cage, Yves Klein, Lee Ufan, Allan Kaprow, Rirkrit Tiravanija, Ozawa Tsuyoshi and Tanaka Koki as well as of historical
works as reference works should aid in understanding the historical and cultural contexts that form the backdrop to Lee’s practice.
