Although their existence is common knowledge, no art historian had ever expressed any serious and fundamental interest in discussing the extreme output of copies after the inventions of Pieter Bruegel the Elder. Many of these copies originate from the workshop of Pieter Brueghel the Younger, the eldest son. In many cases this workshop produced dozens of copies after inventions of the father.
