A sprawling, mind-boggling collection representing several hundred early Japanese punk, new wave, post punk and hardcore flyers, 'Chirashi' highlights the DIY aesthetic of these underground music scenes the late 1970s to early '80s. The book features handmade designs, collages, and hand-copied techniques, all various ephemera that was distributed in Tokyo to spread the word about gigs and releases. "Chirashi", which means "flyers" in Japanese, is derived from the verb "chirasu", to "scatter" or "distribute".
