NIKON / A JAPANESE HISTORY

Against the backdrop of the Empire of the Rising Sun's history of war and conquest, Japan's passion for photography grew in the early 20th century. With the outbreak of World War I and military self-sufficiency achieved, the giant Mitsubishi founded Nippon Kogaku K. to produce the optical glass needed for microscopes, telescopes and high-quality photographic lenses.
