PAINTED LADIES

At the 2019 Rencontres dArles, French photographer Valérie Belin is exhibiting her Painted Ladies series.Portraits of eight women, each of them carrying the traces of a brush used to paint and make up. Paintbrushes and pigments evoke tribal painting. These images seem to result from initiation rites.
