Built as a Gesellschaftshaus (social functions building) for the Leipzig Zoological Garden in 1900, this neo-romanesque structure with its tower was, after the war damage had been repaired, put to new use in 1946 as Leipzig's Congress Hall. But neglect and years of being left empty did great damage to this stately building.
