De origen irlandés, Samuel Beckett (1906-1989) abandona su país en 1932 y decide trasladarse a Francia. Allí escribe en francés sus obras más conocidas -Molloy, El innombrable, Esperando a Godot, Final de partida...-, por las que recibe el Premio Nobel de Literatu ra en 1969. Instalado voluntariamente en la inestabilidad, utiliza de forma simultánea el francés y el inglés hasta el final de su v ida.
