On January 1st 1919 was born J.D. Salinger, author of a brief but highly influential work in Western literature. The Catcher in the Rye, his only novel, lives in the literary memory of millions of around the world.
During 2019 there will be published reprints of his work and studies about him, with an exhibition at the New York Public Library in November as a highlight. Meanwhile, nothing better than starting the year (re)reading him.
