The painter Henry Matisse visited the Alhambra on 11 December 1910 as part of his trip to Spain between 16 November of the same year and 25 January 1911. His signature is still to be seen in the Visitor's Book of the monument and his impression of the visit is rec orded in the letter that he sent that very night to his wife:' The Alhambra is a marvel.
